Puligny Montrachet Le Trezin" 2011 by Pierre Yves Colin Morey

I am not sure what to say anymore about the white Burgundies by Pierre Yves Colin Morey.... The smell, the taste, the balance, the sensation. Everything is so beautifully balanced and elegant that it is mind blowing. A bit of lime. A bit of butter. A bit exotic fruit. A bit of vanilla. Speechless really. His wines are pure mediation. Just buy! Puligny Montrachet "Le Trezin" 2011 Pierre Yves Colin Morey Ca 40€ or 450 NOK

Lunch at Fish & Cow

The other day I had a fantastic lunch at the local restaurant called Fish & Cow. Two of the reasons for going there were the wine list and the very knowledgable wine waiter who is one of the few in Norway with a Master of wine title. Pierre Yves Colin Morey, as you can see from other articles on this blog,  has emerged as one of my favourite wine producers in Burgundy. His white wines are so pure, magical,  remarkable and wonderful that they are made for meditation, they do not really require food as the wine itself is such an experience. The four of us started off with a premier cru Chassagne Montrachet from 2011 and a 11 acre plot called Les Chenevottes. It's a cool, flat plot which is not too humid and the wines from here are fine supple wines. Beautiful aroma of discrete lime, butter and lots minerals. Amazing purity all along. The balance was just wonderful and each sip became like a religious ritual. A stunning wine which every restaurant should be proud of ...

Puligny Montrachet 2011

Could not resist opening this one down at the cabin on a sunny summer day. Colin-Morey has an impressive list of white wines and this one is no exception. Wonderful and elegant nose with discrete lime, butter, herbs, oak and apples. The taste is so balanced, long and vivid that it is just shocking. A truly great wine and the biggest probelm is that the bottle seems to empty way too fast and that there are limited bottles to be obtained. Puligny Montrachet Les Champs Gain 2011 Pierre Yves Colin Morey Ca 50€

Puligny Montrachet 2009 by Leflaive

There is not much to say about this white Burgundy by Domaine Leflaive apart from the fact that it is absolute fantastic. A glorious wine in all respect with a balance and taste that is close to perfection. Stunning stuff! There is nothing in the white wine world close to whiet Burgundy, especially if it is made by Leflaive. Puligny Montrachet 2011 Domaine Leflaive Ca 50€

Carillon - Puligny Montrachet 2012

This is a delicious Puligny Montrachet by Francois Carillon with all the ingrdients that you can expect from a white Burgundy. Medium yellow green colour. The smell is typically Bourgogne with lots of lime, butter and some herbs and nuts. Lovely balanced taste with medium body and a velvety finish. Keep for 5 more years and try with seafood and especially white fish. Pork and chicken dishes should work as well. Puligny Montrachet 2012  Francois Carillon Ca 350 NOK or 30€

Puligny Montrachet 2007

A white Burgundy served with fried cod at a local restaurant called Tango. Let it be said that this combination is just fabulous; the white cod meat matches the slightly "fat" white Burgundy perfectly. The wine was slightly buttery and limy on the nose with a wonderful minerality and long aftertaste. It's very difficult to dislike white Burgundies! Puligny Montrachet 2007, Leflaive Burgundy is far from the sea, but still perfect with cod

Puligny Montrachet "Les Enseigneres" 2008 by V Girardin

This is yet another wonderful dry white from Burgundy by Girardin. 100% Chardonnay perfectly balanced between fruit and oak. Nice buttery, citrus notes on the nose. Lovely dry taste packed with a fruity big silky aftertaste. Perfect with fried cod.... Puligny Montrachet "Les Enseigneres" 2008 by V Girardin, 30-40€ Isn't white Burgundy just lovely?

Puligny Montrachet 2005 1er cru sous les Puits by Merlin

So what is more cunning then serving a white Burgundy with the most astonishing fried cod to a gang of petroleum people celebrating their recent gas discovery in the Barents Sea? (Puits= wells) Lovely citrus and buttery smell with a perfectly balanced "heavy" or "fat" dry long aftertaste. The fried cod at De 4 Roser was out of this world and the combination really lovely. Puligny Montrachet 2005 1er cru "sous les Puits" by Merlin Pricy ca 35€ or NOK460 but yammy... http://www.de4roser.no/

Magical moment with Puligny Montrachet 2003

It was one of those fantastic summer days at the cabin; beautiful sunshine, no wind, flat sea and 28c! Arriving from France with the Mini Cooper packed with wine we went to the fishmarket in Kristiansand to get fresh prawns, crab and fish. Then straight to the cabin to consume it all with a help of a bottle of Puligny Montrachet 2003 by Girardin. Pale yellow colour, lovely smell of butter, lime and minerals . Great dry fruity slighty fat taste with a long beautiful finish. This wine can be bought most places (maybe not same producer) but this producer is available from certain Auchan (around 25 euro and worth every penny) Enjoy!
