The 2015 vintage continue to impress. This wine from  Burgundy and the town of Savigny les Beaune, just north of Beaune and just separated by the A& from Paris. The manger this time is Pavelot who is one of the best in producing wines from this town. Great medium dark red colour. Delicate dark fruit with some notes of stable. Beautiful balance with medium + acidity with a great structure. Lovely wine and good quality price ratio. Savigny les Beaune 2015 Domaine Pavelot Ca 20€ or 300 NOK

Savigny-les-Beaunes 2009 by Pavelot

This is another stunning Savigny-les-Beaune for those moody Burgundy days. Silky red berries all the way and an elegant lovely balanced taste. Lots of acidity despite a warm vintage. Pavelot knows his way around! Savigny-les Beaunes 2009, Pavelot Burgundy at entry price. Ca 229 NOKor 15€

Savigny les Beaune 1er cru2010 by Rossignol

Lovely medium dark red and purple colour. Darker than most Savigny les Beaune. On the nose more like ripe apples and violet than red berries. The wine is balancing on a tight rope and is perfect proportioned between fruit and acidity and tannins. Lovely stuff. Rossignol makes acidic firm Burgundies which are exciting to drink due to the tight balance on the taste. Savigny les Beaune 1er cru "Lavieres"2010 by Rossignol An impressive Savigny 270 NOK or around 20€

Savigny les Beaune 1er cru "Les Lavieres"

Nicolas Rossignol wines are almost always firm with a well developed acidity that balances beautifully in the mouth. So also for this Premier cru "Les Lavieres" from Savigny les Beaune. Savigny les Beaune wines are "leaner" than their neighbour appelation Beaune, but can provide good value for money. The "les Lavieres" has a beautiful attractive Pinot Noir nose with hints of cherries and raspberries. On the palate it is as expected quite firm with quite a decent acidity crying out for food. Elegant, but the acidity can be stringent if the temperature and food does not match. Savigny les Beaune 1er cru "Les Lavieres" 2008 by Nicolas Rossignol, "poor man's Burgundy" worth the cash. Medium price 275, but require food like pork or game.

Savigny les Beaune

This is a small village just a few kilometers northwest of Beaune itself. Its on the left when coming down on A6 from Paris. Its located in a valley separating Cote de Beaune and Cote de Nuits. The wines from this charming little village are best known as light red berry fruit wines with often a pale red colour. The vines facing northwards gives lighter ready to drink wines while those grapes grown facing south give richer and more age worthy wines. In Savigny les Beaune there are no Grand Cru but 11 Premier Cru vineyards. The beauty of reds from Savigny les Beaune is that you dont have to rob a bank to obtain a bottle.  The wines are cheaper than its neighbours but gives good value for money if you like a more feminin type of Burgundy wine. Ther are lots of good producers and the ones we have good experience with and which have provided good value for money are; Cathrine & Claude Marechal (in Bligny les Beaune) for ex Vielles Vignes Chandon de Briailles (in the tow...
