Alain Brumont is a reliable Madiran producer. This big red wine packed with dark berries, plum and cedar is the proof of that. After mixing Cab Sauv and Cabernet Franc in their wines the Madiran has become more approachable and the same with this one. A solid dense taste packed with tannins that are not too rough. In Madiran they make tannic wines from the grape Tannat (recently mixed with Cabrnet Sauvignon up to 20%). Alain Brumont produces some of the best Madiran that you can find, like Montus and Bouscasse. For the third year running he has also produced a simpler Madiran called Torus that can be drunk at young age. The wine comes with a handy screw cork and is as such ideal for trips to the mountains or the cabin. The wine is dark, dense, masculine, black fruits and tannnic. A charming representative from Madiran made from max 15 years old vines from the Montus vineyards at a reasonable price. Torus 2009, Madiran NOK 130, perfect with confit de canard.
