Blindtasting June 2013 Ganddal - Wine# 1

Medium purple colour  with a delightful smell of sweet raspberries, some dried fruit and forrest ground. Juicy taste with a nice acidity that is just right. Very little tannins. Overall good balance and a very soft  taste. Perfect cabin wine and definitely Pinot Noir ! (but not from Burgundy....) Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir 2011 Marlborough, New Zealand Delightful Pinot at ca 240 NOK Score 17.1

Blind tasting Ganddal June 2013 Wine # 2

Medium red colour with a red brown rim. Ripe red berries, vanilla, some wood and raw forrest floor. Similar to wine 1 but perhaps more refined. The taste has medium acidity and medium tannins. Very fruity wine with soft tannins and a medium aftertaste. Perhaps lacking some acidity. Probably Pinot, but due to the colour could it be another FFB? Vosne Romanee 2007 by Anne Gros "Clos de la Fontaine" Ca 55€ Score 17.1

Blindtasting Ganddal June 2013 Wine # 3

Deep dark red colour with purple rim. Dark berries, blackcurrant, roasted coffee beans, pencil sharpener and an overall very clear and complex bouquet. Beautiful balnced wine with medium acidity and big but soft tannins. Great structure and lots of dark fruit. Big and long finish. A great wine and definitely Medoc ! Opps! Pomerol? You gotta be kidding... (must be the 10% Cabernet Franc...) Vray Croix de Gay 2007 Pomerol Ca 50€ Score 18.30

Colome Torrontes 2011 Argentina

Torrontes is the white wine grape of Argentina. A really pleasant surprise! Floral smell with elements of tropical fruit. Surprisingly is also the decent acidity in the wine. Totally unexpected but possible thanks to the grapes being grown in high altitudes (>1000m) near Salta in the north west corner of Argentina. Torrontes 2011 Vallee Calchaqui, Salta Ca 130 NOK

Sassocupo, Chianti

Blindtasting Revheim May 2013 Wine #1 Medium ruby colour with garnet rim. Discrete smell of red plum and some dried fruit. Red fruit on the taste as well , somewhat unbalanced taste with little acidity and tannins. Not exactly brilliant. Origin: Panel lost Chianti 2009, Buccianera, 15€ Score 14,40

Barbera d'Asti, Cascina Castagna

Wine #2 Blindtasting Revheim May 2013 Deep dark purple colour and rim. Lots of dark fruits (+ krekling), coffee and liquerice on the nose. Medium acidity and tannins. Some oak and not too fruity. Very dry finish. Too much oak? Big dry and heavy wine. Where are we? Do not know...... Barbera d'Asti 2011 Cascina Castagna, Ca 12€ Score 16,80 Very atypical Barbera (lacks fruit)

Barolo 2008 Marcenasco

Blindtasting Revheim May 2013 Wine #3 Medium deep red colour with brick rim. The taste is sweet jammy like red berries and some dried fruit. Pinot Noir??? Very soft taste with well intefrated tannins of the kind art. Medium acidity and toasty aftertaste. Pinot Noir? Big debate on Nebbiolo vs Pinot. Due to lack of acidity and tannins it was concluded it could not be Nebbiolo. How wrong could we be? Fucking Female Barolo ! FFB.... Barolo Marcenasco 2008 Renato Ratti, 27£ Score 17,67

Barolo 2007 Renato Corino

Blindtasting Revheim May 2013 Wine #4 Medium deep red colour with apparant brick red rim. Barolo? Smell of autmun leaves, dried fruit and rosebush. Typical Nebbiolo flavours. Elegant taste with pronounced acidity and some dark berries. Firm wine and tannins. Definitely Nebbiolo! Barolo 2007 Renato Corino, 25€ "Tjære deg det lukter roser" Score 18.20

Citran 2010

Reasonable and basic Bordeaux with a nice tannin structure. Deep purple colour, discrete smell of red and dark fruit. Surprisingly drinkable despite being so young (2010). Try with red meat or lamb. Ch Citran 2010 Haut-Medoc ca 250 NOK or 15€

Condrieu by Montez

Condrieu and Comte cheese is a definite match, but one hot weekend down at the cabin we tried Condrieu and strawberries and that was in fact not stupid at all! The viognier grape gives a very succulunt and floral white wine that is rich, big bodied and dry with lots of fruit. The fruit matches the ripe strawberries. Condrieu 2009 Stephane Montez Ca 25€ which is reasonable for this type of wine

Nuits St. George 2009 Premier cru "Les Vignes Rondes" Daniel Rion

I am a big fan of Patrice Rion and his velvety Burgundies. Daniel Rion can also make wine but in a different style. This Nuits St. George has marked acidity and tannins that are both both balancing on a knife-edge, but without falling down on either side. A truly wonderful and complex taste with a very long fine-tuned aftertaste. Ripe raspberries, cherries and chocolate on the nose. A great wine in a high price range. Nuits St George 2009 "les Vignes Rondes 1er cru Daniel Rion A truly wonderful and complex red Burgundy

Meursault 2007 by Domaine Michelot

Delightful Meursault at the Oro wine bar in Oslo. Perfect discrete buttery nose with minerals and lime. Bone dry, but a beautiful balanced wine with a long aftertaste. Great stuff and perfect with the fried white fish. Meursault "Les Narvaux" 2007 Domaine Michelot, High price Oh so drinkable....

Savennieres 1992 Domaine aux Moines

What an extraordinary dry white wine! Made from Chenin Blanc, over 20 years old and from Savennieres district in Loire. Medium golden color and pronounced smell of apricot, honey and tropical fruit. Dry taste with medium acidity and a touch of minerals. Quite an unusual white wine. Ca 215kr or around 15€ which is a decent price. Domaine aux Moines 1992 Savennieres A very interesting white!

Pinot Blanc 2010

Bone dry Pinot Blanc by Martin Schaetzel. Crispy and aromatic wine with flavors of spice, lime and green fruit. Good acidity and nice mineral finish. Surprisingly nice wine made from old Pinot Blanc vines which is also called Auxerrois. Pinot Blanc Vielles Vignes 2010 Martin Schaetzel

Nuits St. George 2009 Pacalet

Still at "Terres a vins" in Strasbourg and this is just a very delicate Nuits St George. Medium purple color and a lovely nose of dark fruite, chocolate and sweet cherries. The taste is super balanced with lovely acidity and firm seductive tannins. A great red Burgundy from 2009! Nuits Saint George 2009 Philippe Pacalet What a change from all that white....

Pommard Pezerolles Premier cru 2007

A decent red Burgundy in a well hidden wine bar called "Terres a vins" in Strasbourg. In this place you can either just buy wine from a very good menu or drink it at the place for an additional fee of 10€. A nice concept. This Pommard was well and firm structured wine with a well balanced tannic taste. Discrete smell of red berries and a bit earthy. Pommard 1er cru Pezerolles 2007 Domaine Ballot Millot Ca 40€ plus the fee

Alsace Steingrubler Grand Cru Riesling

Had this 6 year old Riesling at Chez Yvonne restaurant in Strasbourg. Lovely smell of petroleum and demi sweet taste with nice acidty and balance. Perfect with the local foie gras. Alsace Steingrubler Riesling 2007 Francois Barmes Dangerous stuff...

Gevrey-Chambertin 2010

Had this wine at Cote Brasserie in Covent Garden. Just 48£ in the resto for this deligtful light bodied and seductive Gevrey by Boillot. Medium ruby colour (or nearly pale?), delicious red fruit on the nose with vanilla. Velvety medium bodied taste which has a medium + lenght and a perfect balance. Very soft tannins for being 2010. Goes with game or light red meat. Gevrey-Chambertin 2010 Domaine Lucien Boillot De light ful...

Barbera d'Alba 2010 Sandrone

This wine is a pricy as normally Barbera d'Alba cost between 130-200 NOK (8-15€), but when you buy this one you are around 270 NOK (or 25€). Don't worry though, this wine is much better than for example similar Bordeaux wines in the same price range. Lovely dark purple color and a great nose of dark cherries, coffeee and chocolate. Great stuff. The taste is beautifully balanced and is close to tannin free with a refreshing acidity. Barbera d'Alba 2010 by Sandrone Piemonte A super nice wine.

Clos du Marquis St Julien 1999

This is the second wine of Leoville Lascases and what a lovely wine it is. The normal Bordeaux mix of grapes and a medium ruby colour. On the nose packed with red fruit, cedar and some pencil sharpenings. The palate is wonderfully balanced withfirm but soft tannins. Drinking beautifully now. Purchase price 25 euro, now more like a 100. Clos du Marquis 1999, Saint Julien Bordeaux at it's best....
