Life is too short to drink bad wine

Let it be said at once; this 2009 red Burgundy from More-St-Denis is pure magic! It can remind you of a full bodied Chambolle in a way as it has similar bouquet and smoothness. The smell is dominated by delicate raspberries with hints of chocolate. Subtle, but ever so lovely. The taste is incredible smooth, packed with ripe delicious fruit, an enormous length and wonderful balanced aftertaste. Pure magic! I am uncertain what to eat with this wine as I am afraid many dishes would take away the fantastic experience it is just to drink it on its own. Try veal with a discrete sauce....perhaps.

Yet another Burgundy consumed at Ma Cuisine in Beaune. The 2010 vintage is a real beauty with lots of fruit and soft tannins. The domaine Alain Jeanniard was a new name to me, but apparantly he worked as vigneron for the Hospices de Beaune from 2000-2006 being in charge of the Mazis-Chambertin and Clos de la Roche. He has made his own labels since 2003 and has small plots in Pommard, Chambolle, Gevrey and then Morey-Saint-Denis. The wine is very much like a heavier Chambolle with lots of finesse, elegant red fruit, beautiful balance and ever so drinkable. Magical. This a bloody good red Burgundy but I drank it too early, the 2011 must be kept another 5 more years before realising its full potential...Sorry...

This is a lovely seductive wine, a bit like Chambolle Musigny. Pale to medium red colour. Beautiful complex nose of red fruit and mineral like tones. Taking into account the pale colour, light and seductive smell the taste quite surprising as it is more on the heavy side, a solid mouthful, nut very seductive, complex and long. Perhaps the tannins are a bit too stringent and need a couple of years to be smoothened. Morey-St-Denis 1er cru "Aux Cheseaux" 2011 Domaine Arlaud High price (ca 500 NOK or 40€)

One of my favourite red Burgundies that is so seductive and decadent that food may not be required, time for reflection and meditation really. Found this one at the the Restaurant 4 Roser in Harstad Norway. It's drinking perfectly right now packed with ripe red fruit and soft silky taste. Lovely. This is the 2010 vintage which is now out. It has slightly more tannins than the very drinkable 2009, so it needs a couple years of patience in order to benefit frompeak quality. Les Ruchots is small plot close the border of Chambolle (size of a football pitch). Medium purple color with nice long legs. Clean medium nose of raspberries, earth and mineral. Developing. Juicy, fruity (red fruit) and elegant taste with firm but oh so soft tannins and a refreshing balanced acidity. Extremely difficult to not like and not open yet another bottle. Morey-St-Denis 2010 "Les Ruchots" Arlaud, High price Wait three more years if you can  

Oh what a super delicious Burgundy by Arlaud! This is just pure silk. Just stunning. Medium purple colour and a nose filled with sweet raspberries, chocolate and earthy flavours. Fantastic balanced wine with velvety tannins, lovely red fruit and a perfect acidity. Medium to long harmonic finish. It is just gourgeous! High price... This bottle was opened after a horrible day at work some time ago. Getting two majors with their different bosses to agree a press release was a bit like making pigs fly. The day became wonderfully better when this delicious red Burgundy by Arlaud was poured into the glass. Morey-St-Denis 1er cru from the plot "Aux Cheseaux" is a wonderful wine with a stunning perfume of flowers and red sweet berries. This is a lovely red Burgundy from the appelation of Morey Saint Denis. The premier cru plot "aux Chesaux" is on the northern edge of Morey close to the Grand Cru Charmes Chambertin. The plot is only 0.71 ha and only 4400 bottles are produced each year of this wine. Arlaud started with organic farming in 2004 and are trimming the vines by hand and plowing by horse. This wine from 2002 had an enormous smell of raspberries, forrest berries and "farm"... A solid and giant mouthful of balanced and lovely Pinot Noir fruit. Sparkling stuff! Domaine Arlaud uses 100% destalking, cool pre-maceration, pumping over and new wood of varying proportion. Together with low yields his wines are thus normally of excellent quality. This Morey St Denis comes from a small plot called "Aux Chesaux" (1,5 ha) out of which Arlaud owns half it. Morey St Denis is stuck between Chambolle Musigny to the south (elegancy) and Gevrey-Chambertin (powerful) to the north. The wine is thus a bit like a "full bodied" Chambolle. The colour is medium red with purple rim, similar to those of Chambolle. The nose is wonderful and elegant with sweet raspberries, dark fruit,vanilla and flowers. Simply great stuff. The taste is dancing wonderfully on a thin line towards lovely fruit, soft tannins, perfect balance and long velvety finish. What can I say? Nothing wrong with being stuck in between Chambolle and Gevrey.... Morey St.Denis 1er cru "Aux Cheseaux" High price 449 worth every penny...cause heaven is not far away!
