Villa Cafaggio Chianti Classico 2009

Clear medium ruby colour. Medium + nose of red berries, raisins, earthy flavours and jam. High acidity and soft tannins, medium+ body and intensity. Well balanced wine crying for food. Medium finish with hints of sour cherries. Will be perfect with fat food like lamb due to the acidity and structure of the wine. Meursault by Bouchard

The big producers in Burgundy are easy to get hold of as they are widely available, but in search for quality it's probable best to stay away. Bouchard is however sometimes an exception. This Meursault has a pale lemon green colour and a very nice nose of lime and minerals. The balance is just perfect with a wonderful integrated oak and acidity. Also a bit of minerals on the palate. The wine is still young but will develop with ageing. Meursault 2007 by Bouchard Delicious stuff... High price

2009 Chateauneuf du Pape

This is a reasonable Chateauneuf du Pape from the famous 2009 vintage. Medium to deep ruby color with a ruby rim. A clean nose packed with red fruit like raspberries and cherries. Still developing. Dry, medium acidity with high alcohol content and medium+ soft tannins. Full bodied wine with a good balance with some spice, red fruit and cherries. Medium to long finish. A nice wine drinking well now but will develop further. Domaine du Vieux Lazare 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape A warm wine with Syrah and Grenache.

Domaine de Periliere, Cote du Rhone Village 2011

Alsace Riesling Grand cru "Sommerberg" 2004

Another Riesling by Boxler but slightly older. This time from the Grand cry vineyard called Sommerberg. Same medium lemon-green colour , but with a nose with more smell of petroleum smell as well as citrus and green fruit. The taste is packed with fruit and has perhaps slightly less acidity than the 2006. Long, seductive finish with a very good balance. Alsace Grand cru "Sommerberg" 2004 Albert Boxler A great Riesling
