PYCM rose from Burgundy

Unfined/unfiltered. Jeg gir meg over for en rose vin! PYCM has created a rose wine based upon 100% Pinot Noir from Burgundy. Nearly 50 year old vines and only his second rose wine ever. His wonderful white Burgundies have just become more and more expensive and more more  difficult to get hold of. I have drunk quite a few rose from Provence but this one takes rose wine to a different level. Although 25€ is expensive. But what a wine! It smells Pinot, but it is discretely rose coloured with a heavenly taste and ...

Informal 2013 - sparkling Portugal

This is a sparkling wine from Portugal made by the innovative Luis Pato. It's made from 100% Baga with the second fermentaion in the bottle. Pale pink colour with small bubbles. Nice smell of raspeberries and some smoke. The taste is refreshing with a marked acidity and raspberries and redcurrant flavours. Goes well as an aperitif or with crab or pork.  Informal 2013 Portugal Luis Pato Ca 160 NOk or 8€

Clouet Rose Champagne

Rose Champagnes are a bit like Blancs de Noir as they are made from the red grapes Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. This leads to a bit more fullbodied taste and with the lovely colour it makes a nice combination. This Rose by Clouet is very easy drinking and reasonable at the same time.Normally you pay a bit more for rose Champagne but not for this one. Delightful pink colour, lovely small bubbles and a fruity balanced taste that could match quite a bit of food. Andre Clouet Champagne Ca 25€

Roederer rose 2009

Rose Champagne is just great stuff. this is from the 2009 vintage in addition. Small bubbles with pale salmon like colour. The smell is predominantly red fruit and blackcurrant. Delicate refreshing well balanced taste with hints of red cherries. This version is a bit pricy, but still a very decent Rose although there are others equally good (and even better) that cost less. Louis Roederer Rose 2009 Champagne Ca 550NOK

Ulysse Collin Rose Champagne

I should have taken a picture while the Champagne was still in the bottle as the colur is just amazingly deep rose (or medium red). This is a 100% Pinot Noir Champagne packed with red fruit and lively bobbles with lots of body and fruit. A bit pricy, but a very special rose Champagne due to the lovely colour. Ulysse Collin Rose de Saignee Ca 400 NOK

Duval Leroy rose prestige

I found this rose Champagne at the tax free. It's the first time that I have tried this Champagne house and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. Medium salmon rose colour with a attractive nose of red fruit. The bubbles are small and attractive and the taste is well balanced with a fine tuned acidity. A very decent rose Champagne that goes with many dishes or as an aperitif. Duval Leroy Rose Champagne Ca 350 NOK Notes from their site: The delicacy of its bubbles, a string of fine pearls, escapes from the crystalline elegance of the airy neck of the bottle created by Carol Duval-Leroy.   Its salmon colour, created from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, holds one's eye and brings hints of amber to the fore. Its bouquet releases a wealth of aromas: wild cherries, figs and even a hint of ginger and geranium.   With a solid maturity and balanced vinosity, this wine represents the best of what Duval-Leroy has to offer to knowled...

Jacquart Rose

What a lovely Rose Champagne! Velvety red fruit and a great balance. Packed with red fruit and  a very agreeable long taste. Very easy to drink and quite reasonable priced for being a rose Champagne. Ca 31€

Kunstler Pinot Noir Rose

It's spring and close to summer and time to try some Rose wines. This one by the Riesling producer Kunstler in Rheingau in Germany is both reasonable and very nice indeed. The color is pale salmon (not too exciting really) but the nose is fruity with strawberries and apricots as the dominant flavor. The wine is dry, but with a very fruity and fresh finish. Very easy drinking indeed. Kunstler Pinot Noir 2012 Rose Rheingau Ca 140 NOK or 6€

Ch. Sainte Marguerite

The top rose wine from Ch. Sainte Marguerite. Lovely medium salmon colour. Packed with red fruit on the nose and a nicely balanced fruity taste. There is a lot of nice and decent rose wines around. the quality seems to be improving every year and this one is no exception. Ch. Sainte Marguerite 2012 Cote de Provence, Ca 12€ Fresh and elegant

Ch. Berne 2012

This Rose has a lovely pink salmon colour. Just beautiful! On the nose lots of delicious peach and apricot. The taste is dry with a nice acidity and a good balance. For just 7€ this is a very good bottle of rose! In addition is the bottle square and quite unusual, although the bottle is slightly heavy (especially when you buy a six pack...). Great stuff from Ch Berne near Lourges. Ch. Berne 2012 Cote de Provence Ca 7€

Ch. Rasque 2012

Oh yet another very drinkable rose. This time Ch. Rasque also from Cote de Provence. Had this at a trendy Lebanese restaurant in Nice called L'Ybane. Medium terracotta colour with a fresh nose of red fruit and some peach. The taste is fruity with a nice minerality and medium body. 50/50% Grenache and Cinsault and 4-6 hours of maceration to obtain the colour. Ch Rasque 2012 Cuvee Alexandra Cotes de Provence. Ca 15€

Minuty 2012 moments

The reasonable version from Ch. Minuty called Moments. Bone dry rose with a nice acidity and minerality. Discrete smell of peach and orange. Main grapes are Cinsault and Grenache which means that the alcohol content might be high (13%). Pale terracotta colour (at least when compared to the terrace wall...) Ch. Minuty 2012 Moments Ca 12€

Cheap and fruity Rosé

It's hot, it's lunch time and what else than a pale Rose for such an occasion. This one, bought at the local Nicolas, was only around 6€ and it turned out to be a very good one as well. Lots of fruit and no tannins. Perhaps a bit short on acidity but ah so drinkable. Time for a rest before entering the pool site again... La Rose des Vents 2012 Coteaux Varois en Provence What's price got to do with it?

Romance 2012

This Rose produced by Ch Berne in Cotes de Provence has a lovely deep terracotta colour and a very hand glass cork that can be re-used. Delicious red fruit on the nose with perhaps a less quality taste, but overall a decent wine for only 6€. Widely available and perfect lunch wine. Romance 2012 Berne Cotes de Provence

Henriot Rose

One of my favorite Champagne houses and located in Reims. Brilliant vintage and Blanc de blancs but this Rose is also very elegant. Terracotta colour. Pinot Noir dominated fruity taste with full bodied finish. This wine can take many types of food. On the nose it has yeasty flavors, toast and lots of red fruit. A very decent rose! Henriot Rose Ca 34€ Think big and fruity...

Caprice de Clementine Rose 2012

It's summer holiday and lunch downtown Antibes at Le Chrono. 50cl bottles are very useful in those situations and Chateau Valentine makes a rose called Caprice de clementine which is widely available in the region. Pale salmon colour with lots of red fruit on the nose and a very nice fruity taste. Good value for money. Caprice de clementine Rose 2012 Cotes de Provence Ca 6€ Bring it on....!

Croix de Basson, Cote de Provence

Touch of summer and time to bring out the rose. Found this reasonable rose from Cote de Provence in the local wine shop. Pale salmon colour and a wine filled with delicate strawberries and lots of red fruit. Perfect on it's own or with salmon. Croix de Basson 2011 Cotes de Provence, NOK 135 or 6€...

Ch Mouresse 2010 Rose

This is a lovely Rose wine with a juicy and perfectly balanced taste. The color scheme is more Tuscany colored inspired as it is more towards orange brown or burnt Sienna. Purchasing this wine will set you back 10€ at the local Casino super market. Ch. Mouresse 2010 "L'Excellence" Cotes de Provence Perfect for the terrace on its own...

Sancerre Rose 2011 by Saget

It's summer, even in Norway. Time for rose! The Saget white Sancerre is not very impressive but his Sancerre Rose is quite all right and reasonable as well. Smoked salmon colour, nice smell of strawberries and red fruit and light refreshing taste. 100% Pinot Noir has been used for this wine. Sancerre Rose 2011, Guy Saget. Ca 110 NOK (tax free) or 7€.  It's finally summer (holiday)!!!

Clos Gauthier rose 2010

This is an expensive rose in Provence terms, around 15€, which is totally unheard of in the land of cheap rose plonk. But sometimes it's worth to pay more even for rose wines. Lovely smoked salmon colour. Nose is full of seductive strawberries with a great fruity dry and fruity taste. Perfect for lunch, pre dinner dinner or even after dinner. Clos Gautier, Cotes de Provence 2010 Smoked salmon colour perfect with BBQ salmon?
