Pontet Canet 2004 - Paulliac

Magnum bottles are great stuff. Especially if you have visitors of the thirsty kind. I came across this magnum from Paulliac at the local wine shop and just had to buy two although they were slightly pricy. This is a classic and mature Pauillac from the underrated 2004 vintage. Beautiful nose, lovely balance and so easy to drink. Perhaps a slight lack of weight in the middle, but make no mistake, this is top drawer stuff. Lovely Pauillac nose of black fruits, liquorice and old wood. Earthy and soft tannins on the palate. Perfect with the confit de canard. Pontet Canet 2004 Paulliac High price

Meursault l'Ormeau 2008

This is super delicious white Burgundy from Meursault. The producer Coche-Boouillot has really hit the target with this one. Pale straw colour with a hint of green. A very rich and beautiful constructed smell of sitrus, butter and minerals. The taste is so balanced and delicate that you just have to drink slowely to treasure every second. Long aftertaste, very concentrated, big solid taste with a nice mineral finish. A truly great Meursault. Meursault "l'Ormeau" 2008 Coche-Bouillot High price (440 NOK or 40€)

Laherte Blanc de Blancs

Delightful crispy 100% Chardonnay based Champagne. Light golden colour. Big attractive nose of citrus fruit and yeasty falvours. Medium body, good  balanced taste with a nice apparant minerality and fruit. Try as aperitif or with seadfood. Laherte Blanc de Blancs Medium price

Roederer rose 2009

Rose Champagne is just great stuff. this is from the 2009 vintage in addition. Small bubbles with pale salmon like colour. The smell is predominantly red fruit and blackcurrant. Delicate refreshing well balanced taste with hints of red cherries. This version is a bit pricy, but still a very decent Rose although there are others equally good (and even better) that cost less. Louis Roederer Rose 2009 Champagne Ca 550NOK

Ulysse Collin Rose Champagne

I should have taken a picture while the Champagne was still in the bottle as the colur is just amazingly deep rose (or medium red). This is a 100% Pinot Noir Champagne packed with red fruit and lively bobbles with lots of body and fruit. A bit pricy, but a very special rose Champagne due to the lovely colour. Pierre Yves Colin Morey- Burgundy

Domaine Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is based in the Chassagne Montrachet in  Burgundy . The eldest son of Marc Colin, Pierre-Yves worked at the family domaine from 1994 to 2005. Meanwhile, with his wife Caroline (née Morey) he had established a négociant business in 2001 under the name Colin-Morey. After the 2005 harvest he left the family domaine, taking with him his six-hectare share of the vineyards, which now form part of the Colin-Morey label. This does not differentiate between wines from its own vineyards and those from purchased grapes. Pierre-Yves’s techniques have evolved since leaving the family domaine, in part in response to the problem of premature oxidation. There is no more battonage and the cellar is no longer heated to encourage the malolactic fermentation. The wines are kept in barrel longer (the barrels are from François Frères and Chassin, with about one third new wood, including 350-litre casks), the St-Aubins being bottled before the next harvest but th

Chassagne Montrachet Les Ancegnieres 2012

Yet another lovely and seductive Chassagne Montrachet by Colin-Morey. This time a plot called Les Ancegnieres from the year 2012. The boquet is filled with lime, cloves, cardamom and with a hint of marzipan. The taste is so lovely, so balanced, so great and with such a wonderful acidity that it's just shocking. Simply a stunning white by Colin.... Chassagne Montrachet 2012 Les Ancegnieres Pierre Yves Colin Morey High price

Duval Leroy rose prestige

I found this rose Champagne at the tax free. It's the first time that I have tried this Champagne house and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. Medium salmon rose colour with a attractive nose of red fruit. The bubbles are small and attractive and the taste is well balanced with a fine tuned acidity. A very decent rose Champagne that goes with many dishes or as an aperitif. Duval Leroy Rose Champagne Ca 350 NOK Notes from their site: The delicacy of its bubbles, a string of fine pearls, escapes from the crystalline elegance of the airy neck of the bottle created by Carol Duval-Leroy.   Its salmon colour, created from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, holds one's eye and brings hints of amber to the fore. Its bouquet releases a wealth of aromas: wild cherries, figs and even a hint of ginger and geranium.   With a solid maturity and balanced vinosity, this wine represents the best of what Duval-Leroy has to offer to knowledg

Meursault Les Vireuils 2011 by Benjamin Leroux

This is just a super delicious Meursault by Benjamin Leroux. Very pricy, but ridiculously good. Pale yellow green colour. Fantastic minerality and lime, butter and spices on the nose. Simply stunning. The taste is superbly balanced with great length and a lovely acidity. A wonderful wine, perfect for mediation. Decant and serve at around 12-13c, if it is too cold you will not understand what the fuzz is about. Meursault 2011 Les Vireuils Benjamin Leroux High price

JCB 3

This is a very special Pinot Noir as it is a combination of the new and old world; California and Burgundy. Boisset has mixed grapes from the two places and made a delightful Pinot Noir which expresses the two styles; the softness of California and the acidity of Burgundy. Sweet dark fruit on the nose. The colour is atypical Burgundy as it has a medium to deep dark red colour. The taste is a chapter on its own with a big smooth velvety taste that goes on and on. Overall a very high quality Pinot. JCB no3 Jean Charles Boisset California and Burgundy High price December 1, 2013 | The Wine Advocate The JCB 2010 No. 3 Red Wine is a blend of French and California Pinot Noir. The color is dark garnet, and the nose is spicy and smoky displaying notions of underbrush and red cherries. Dominated by Pinot Noir fruit characteristics, it is round, pure and velvety textured with loads of kirsch, plums and black cherries. This medium to full-bodied, elegant ye

Turley Paso Robles Zinfandel 2012

This is like a Rolls Royce Zinfandel. Deep dark colour and a massive smell of complex aromas of pepper, wet stone and dark fruit with a bit of raspberry. Focused, smooth, and full bodied with a palate with wonderful flavors and long finish. A heady 16% alcohol but great balance and a beautiful Zinfandel indeed. Turley Zinfandel 2012 Paso Robles, Dusi Vineyard High price

La Solana - Tenerife, Spain

This is a very special dry red that I found in the wine shop the other day. It's based upon a grape in Tenerife called Listán Negro. "The 2011 La Solana is a single east-facing vineyard planted with the local red grape, 95% Listán Negro with the balance being a mix of different grapes, the norm in these 120-year-old vineyards. Listán Negro is supposedly a neutral grape, but not here, where the wine is very aromatic, perfumed, different and ever-changing. It really makes you smell it twice. The palate is fruity and feminine, showing very fine minerality (all the Canary Islands are volcanic) with a medium-bodied, great length and some very fine and silky tannins." 91 points, Luis Gutiérrez , eRobertParker.com #209 "Juicy, stemmy, smoky - some whole bunch fermentation character. Long, meaty finish. This is outstanding, and seems to combine the best bits of Burgundy and the Rhône. Crozes-Musigny?!" 17.5 points, jancisrobinson.c La Solana 201
